the main point is that.. both of us neglected length λ
standing wave is created by the superposition of of two transverse waves of equal amplitude travelling in opposite directions, in a long string tied at both ends.
stat1 : velocity of C.O.M of a piece of length λ (considered anywhere in the string) will be zero at any point of time.
stat2 : there is no net transfer of material when a wave travels through it.
