I came to know about this just now......and got confused....can anyone tell why?
If Youngs double slit experiment uses monochromatic source, then shape of interference fringes on screen is straight line, whereas if Youngs double hole experiment is used, the sahape is hyperbola.WHY??

eureka.. it has to do with 3d and 2d
think it for a bit and you will understand :)
s2p-s1p=path diff.this is the locus of a hyperbola. In case of slits they interfere along a strt line but form a hyperbola if its the second case.I think so this is the ans but I m not sure.....anyone else reply plzzzzzzz
no abhi..
the thing is that in a plane when there is a slit the difference will be equal
but in a case of a single hole
there will be patterns formed on the front wall.. which will be three dimensional in one way!
nis bhaiya check out ncert 12 once its has something coherent with abhi77's logic
ya thanx sir...........didnt consider those dimensions while thinking...
btw it is an AIEEE question[3]
