IIT - Physics
Half - life of a radioactive subst. A is 4 days.
The probability that a nucleus will decay in 2 half-lives??

obvious answer hai..
prob of it surviving 1 half life =1/2
prob of it surviving the 2nd half life = 1/2 x 1/2 = 1/4
hence it "dies" in that time with p=3/4

i m confused plz help....
13i think the ques asks the probabilty that the nucleus dies in the second half life and not the first

13no shudnt the ans be 1/4 bcz if it survives in the first half lyf then only will it decay in the second half lyf.....so 1/2*1/2
