A : Ph-----CH-----CHO
B: Ph----CH(CHO)----C(CH3)=O
C:??????????//
sorry for troubling u all............
its done....
bt if anyone wants to try ..he can
yes i have a dbt,in the structure of A (whether this form only reacts with acetyl chloride to give B) @kartick if the cpd B is rite then the C is a product obtained by the addition of H2O group across the carbonyl group of the aldehyde.since aldehyde is more reactive than that of ketone.
now hydrolyse ! just relace CH3 in the ketone part by OH ! its done !
