when chloroform is so highly polar,,why is it insoluble in water ??pls explain

due to large inductive effect...there is some partial charge displacement from carbon to chlorine....

but...i dont think it is that much polar(ie strength) may not b to that effect

its polarity index is 4.1... isnt that high enough to dissolve ??

chloroform is organic and organic compounds generally not dissolvable in water
