-OH gp is not a gud leaving gp.
We can convert bromocyclopentane to cyclopentene by just adding NaNH2. But to convert cyclopentanol to cyclopentene that wont work right ??

first u have to convert OH into a good leaving group. that can be done by providing it H+ ion. there are other ways also to do it

Well,NH2- has more basicity than OH-(in this case,basicity is directly proportional to rate of E2 mechanism) ,thus there would be nucleophilic substitution rather than elimination when u add NaNH2 to cyclopentanol.
