SeO2 is an oxidising agent ( selective ) oxdoses C α to carbonyl.
thus propanone on treatment with SeO2 gives 2-oxopropanal ( forgive my nomenclature if wrong.hopefully the message is conveyed. :)

i see it oxidises only 1 alpha carbon,what about preference to alpha carbon in a ketone
