m-chloro perbenzoic acid is ideal for epoxidation.

i think its Perchlorobezoic acid for shrpless epoxidation and hydrogen peroxide for asymmetric epoxidation.

mCPBA(m-chloro perbenzoic acid) is weakly peroxyacid, and soluble in solvents such as CH2Cl2. Therefore, preferred to make epoxides or Oxiranes. If you will use peroxide (or peracid), the epoxide bond will cleave and it will result in formation of Glycol.
Hoping I'm clear.
