in case of preparation it is ok with ncert, but i would lyk to say ,.....chemical properties of cpds may give rise to new things....(it may not be synthetichally resourceful).. so it is almost intermixed
as u all have experience of facing jee n aieee once,
plz tell if the METHODS OF PREPARATION and CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
given in NCERT r sufficient for jee+aieee

@ celestine....i think Q 2 is clearly in NCERT..as for q 1 is concernesd....yeah it wasnt ther but the similar reaction with NH3 was there....
for organic, NCERT is not at all sufficient...for inorganic, NCERT is
NOT SUFFICIENT, but is a BARE MINIMUM...
i know inorganic is difficult to mugg from the other buks, but what to do guyz, der are no free lunches in lyf...on the other hand, if u noticed, dis tym 2-3 Q.s were from NCERT...
1) which of the following contain N-N? (painful Q. for me)(4marks)
ans: all N oxides' structures are given in ncert...
2) reaction products of Cu and Zn with HNO3 (8 marks)
ans: all given in NCERT...
3) reaction of Na metal with air..(4marks)
so as u can see dat NCERT doent answer all Questions of JEE, still it does answer some Q.s (of gud marking) as it did dis yr...
but its CLEARLY INSUFFICIENT...
cheers!!
Can u tell me which of these are from NCERT
1 In rxn
2X + B2H6→[BH2X2]+[BH4]-
amines X are
A NH3 B CH3NH2 C (CH3)2NH D (CH3)3N
2 Co ordination no of Al in crystalline state of AlCl3 is ??
@ celestine i may be wrong but which inorg. u think was outside NCERT this tym?do u remember?
i said... dont study preperation and chemical prperties seperately...
in jee they wont ask what is the method of prep of XYZ.... they will test ur basic.... know the mech of all the prep and chemical propertiies
i hav solomon... but the sad part is it is not for jee alone... it also contains extra info... i referred it for genral organic chem, hydro carbons, alkyl n aryl halids.... in case of mechanism it is gud....( i donno abt other lessons).....but to practise u hav to go for some other
it is just to clear u the basic in mech ....n other things in org chem
yes for AIEEE
but jee i doubt
this time i saw inorganic outside ncert :(
i cudnt get u....morrison is gud...
aprt from this BT has almost all the essential named reactrions and their mech.....
ORGANIC in jee (NCERT has never been sufficient)
wat u shud do is see JEE syllabus (there are specific rxn given ...... some are in NCERT some may not be )
there are lots other than ncert in case of organtic... there are lots of named reactions like perkin, benzoin, etc... along with mechanisms for each and every thing... for chemical properties
for preperation.... u hav to know the mech. which is not given in ncert
THANX CELESTINE
FOR ORGANIC IN JEE IS NCERT METHODS OF PREPARATION N CHEMICAL PROPERTIES SUFFICIENT
hey john i should say the frst thing is that u must be thorough with the +2 text books.......very clear each part of the text........make it crystal clear.....then opt for other guide books and guide line sites like targetiit.com and all......
