partially staggered form is called gauche form its intermediary in position between eclipsed and fully staggered think its clear from the fig
hope im correct
can anyone pls explain what Gauche configuration means?
Gauche is a bit wierd to understand for the first time..
Lets see what Gauche means in English ! Then may be we can get a better feel of it:
Gauche: Awkward or lacking in social graces; bumbling; Skewed, not plane
So It is basially a rouge in the sense that it neither stays together nor as Anti.!
I know I have not given the diagram.. But i Hope you have the spirit!
Do u mean anything between eclipsed and staggered config is a Gauche config?
Not exactly... I meant that the rouge elements which "exist"
The other conformers are not too stable. So it is the 3rd conformer basically :)
Staggered is most stable conformation and eclipsed is least stable. Like that what is unique about Gauche ?

yes wherever there is a C-C bond u can ask ur teacher to show the ball and stick models jaise 3d models it will give u a clear picture of the conformational, optical ,and other kind of isomerisms...........else i think u can even see it on the net
