Eliminations usually prefer anti conformation of leaving group and beta hydrogen. This is ester pyrolysis, it is similar to cope elimination and is a SYN elimination. Pyrolytic eliminations are always cope/syn eliminations.
Occurs readily due to five or six membered transition state.
Carboxylic acid is a side product.
