39It seems 3 is correct. The methyl group has 3 hyperconjugative hydrogens which makes it more activating than the t-Bu group.

39Yes it's only D..but INCORRECT ONLY..lola I saw 3rd as dimethyls at the same position. The last one is incorrect because sec-butyl cation will rearrange but it will not be a major product as sec-butyl is more stable than isopropyl.
