as ethanoic acid, propanal
propan-2-one can be written as propanone as only one ketone possible with 3 carbon atoms
same is the case with butanone
9no propanone and propan-2-one are same
and the numbering comes only when other possible locations are there
in propanone the one signifies a ketone
so it has to take that pos only no other alternative so structure is uniquely determinable wen u say propanone itself
while for butanone there are 2 positions (2 and 3 ) but are equivalent only wen reversed left to write
so here also u neednt say butan2one explicitly
