39i think its because of the M and I effects shown by the -OH when placed at ortho meta and para position, i dont have any other idea.

39the answewr lies in the question u asked. if aromatic alcohols are oxidisable, then this will also be oxidisable. as u know it is a aromatic di-ol na.

39@akand, u only try, the clue i can give is that C2-C23 centre is very easily prone for oxidation

39in your question, aplha hydroxy ketones gice it because
two adjacent carbons, one containing carbonyl and other contains alcohol. this is very easiiily prone to oxidation.
