Atomic Structure

He can be excited to 1s1 2p1 configuration by light of 58.44 nm . The lowest excited singlet state , with the configuration 1s 1 2s 1 , lies 4857 cm-1 below the 1s1 2p1 state .

What would be the average He - H bond energy have to be in order that HeH2 could form nonendothermically from He & H2 ?

Assume that the compound would form from the lowest excited singlet state of He , neglect any difference b/w ΔE & ΔH , & take ΔHr (H) = 218 kJ/mol

Given h = 6.63 x 10-34 Js & c = 3 x 108 m/s

The avg speed of 0.1 mole of gas A at 300 K was 460 m/s

The avg speed of 0.2 mol of another gas B at 400 K was 510 m/s .

The abv 2 samples were mixed without any transfer of energy with the surrounding.

Calculate the avg speed of gas mixture .

Assume A & B don't react .
