For a diatomic gas, there are 5 degrees of freedom -
3 for translational and 2 for rotational.
According to equipartition of energy the share of each degree of freedom is 1/2 kT per molecule.
Total translational energy per molecule = 3/2 kT
Total Rotational energy per molecule = 2/2 kT
Ratio = 3 : 2
