An unknown compound A is composed of manganese and oxygen having
36.78%oxygen by weight. If 1.7g of A is heated in stream of hydrogen
gas, water is formed in assosciation with 1.5g of B(MnxOy)
Q1 Weight of water formed=____

A is converted to B and loss of weight=0.2 g
so weight of oxygen in water formed=0.2 g
weight of water=(0.2/16)*18=0.225 g
from the given % we find that A is MnO2
weight of Mn will remain same in B
so (55/87)*1.7=(55x/(55x+16y))*1.5
which gives x/y=3/4
so simplest formula is Mn3O4
From the conservation of mass
1.7+x=1.5+0.225
so x=0.025 g
