1.922 g of MeOH was burnt in a constant-volume bomb calorimeter. The temperature of water rose by 4.2oC. If the heat capacity of the calorimeter and its contents is 10.4kJoC-1, calculate the molar heat of combustion of MeOH.

727.24 kJ....heat of combustion for 1.922gm is (10.4x4.2) kJ
therefore for 1 mole (32gm) it will be (10.4x4.2x32/1.922) kJ.
- Bitan Chakraborty This is an exothermic reaction so, enthalpy Change will be -ve. Hence the answer is -727.24kJ/mol. Otherwise calculation is perfect!!Upvote·0· Reply ·2013-03-12 02:46:29
