A current I flows through a infinitely long metallic conductor of the shape of a half cut hollow cylinder of radius radius r.

What is the magnetic field at the center of the "imaginary completed" cylinder?

See the magnetic field for a straight wire carrying current is
B = μi/2πr

Now we consider
θ is the angle between the vertical and the line joins the conductor to the centre
θr = x
rdθ=dx
I through dx = idx/Ï€r
I = idθ/π
We consider this dx as a st. wire
Therefore
dB = μidθ/2π2r
Now we break to into the co-ordinate system

dBx = μicosθdθ/2π2r
dBy = μisinθdθ/2π2r
Bx = 2μi/2π2r
By = 0
Therefore
B= μi/π2r
